So I have been considering what impact the new budget will have on equity release and I have come to the conclusion that we still have a long way to go for the dust to settle on the budget before the equity release providers will react with their marketing efforts. Of course, marketing literature follows the recent economic changes so it will be interesting to see what spin the advisers give on the new budget.
I for one see the obvious ramification which is that equity release may increase due to the VAT increase. People have to spend more to live their usual lives and retirement creates enough of a shortfall as it is.

Welcome to my blog about equity release.
I have been following this industry for a long time and am thinking about taking up my qualifications to become an equity release adviser, having been an IFA for the last 26 years. As I approach the age where I might be interested in an equity release scheme for myself, I have given the product more consideration and feel it has come a long way since its inception twenty odd years ago. If I feel that it is a product that I can use myself, I have no qualms about advising on it and providing equity release advice to customers just like me who are interested in it.
This blog will detail my journey about equity release and see how far I get with my exams.
